The preparation for Sourdough Crumpet Co's Easter crumpets begins in late September when they marinate their favourite dried fruits and green apples in brandy, sherry, sugar and spices. It’s their grandmothers fruit mince recipe and it’s just perfect for Easter. The fruit mince is mixed into the crumpet batter and its really something special. When these crumpets go on the griddle the smell is just intoxicating, like a warm hug.
100% true organic sourdough crumpets, this means no instant yeast and no shortcuts. The crumpet batter undergoes a long slow fermentation, giving them a lovely mild sour flavour, a tender structure, and a lovely crisp bum.
These yummy crumpets are baked fresh in the Northern Rivers and delivered to us every Wednesday. We pop them in the freezer to keep them in perfect condition for you.
