Summer Fruit is Here!

Summer Fruit is Here!

The weather is heating up, but we wouldn't change a thing, because summer in Australia creates a beautiful climate for delicious fruit!

We have carefully curated a regular and large Christmas Fruit box full of these festive fresh fruits. Sadly the box is only available for 2 weeks so order now so you don't miss out!

Here's a little info on the nutritional benefits and some useful tips for storing and enjoying these delicious fruits.

Watermelon
Fresh from Burpengary
Watermelon is over 90% water, so its a delicious way to help stay hydrated this summer. They are a great summer food as they contain lycopene and beta carotine- which can help prevent sunburn.
TIP: To make your watermelon extra refreshing, put slices in the freezer to create your very own natural (and delicious) ice pops.

Mango
Fresh from Gympie
Summer and Mangoes go hand in hand, but Did you know that one Mango contains 100% of your Vitamin C needs for the day? Vitamin C is an amazing antioxidant that is great for your body, and although it doesn't prevent colds it can shorten the length of time you experience symptoms, meaning you are able to bounce back faster.
TIP: To get the most out if your mangoes, cut them properly, click here to see how!

Lychees
Fresh from Beerwah
Did you know that in China, Lychees are a symbol of love? Well here in Australia we love these sweet little fruit, and they love you back. Lychees contain nutrients such as copper and iron which are really important for blood health and helping to prevent fatigue, something we don't want to feel this summer.
TIP: To eat Lychees: Step 1- Peel away the pink outer skin. Step 2- Pop the sweet white flesh away from the seed. Step 3- enjoy and repeat!

Papaya
Fresh from Yeppoon
Papaya/pawpaw is renowned for its topical health benefits, but did you know it can heal from the inside too? Papaya contains a natural enzyme called Papain, which can help aid digestion, helping to prevent painful bloating and constipation, two things that could totally ruin your summer.
TIP: Papaya is super sweet, so makes a great dessert. To bring out its savory side, add a little lemon or lime juice to your papaya and it becomes the perfect sweet/sour addition to any salad.

Cherries
Fresh from Tenterfield
Cherries just say 'Christmas'. Our local spray free cherries are a gorgeous bright red - brighter than Rudolph's nose!  Cherries can actually help you relax and sleep better, as they are a natural source of melatonin, the anti-oxidant that tells you when to be awake and ready, and when to switch off. A couple of cherries after dinner could really help you get that good night's sleep you have been craving.
TIP: To pit cherries for a recipe, use a metal straw, just pop it in one end and the pip should pop right out the other!

Apricots
Fresh from Victoria
If you have never tried fresh Apricots you really should. A far cry from their sugary wrinkled dry counterparts they are juicy, plump and sweet! Apricots are also an amazing source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and phytonutirents which are all great for your skin. So to keep your skin as clear and fresh as an apricot (not dried, of course), try a few apricots!
TIP: They are best fresh, but if you have extra apricots this season you can dry them out yourself using the oven. Instructions here.
