Cafresco Organics is more than just a farm—it’s a family legacy, located on reclaimed swampland in Kooweerup, Victoria. Located 80 kilometres southeast of Melbourne at the head of Westernport Bay, Cafresco Organics has grown from humble beginnings into one of Australia’s leading organic farms.
A Legacy that Started in the 1950s
Their story begins in the 1950s when Cesare and Salvatrice Cafra migrated from Italy and settled on this land. With a passion for farming and a vision for their future, they began cultivating potatoes, carrots, and onions. Their son Maurie joined the family business in 1975, continuing to work the land with the same dedication his parents had instilled in him.
By the early 1990s, the farm became home to Maurie and Maria, along with their young family. Together, they grew the business, expanding their fields to keep up with a growing demand for quality produce.
Going Organic
In 1997, Cafresco Organics reached a major milestone by achieving organic certification from the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia (NASAA). This was a turning point for the farm, marking their commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and delivering food that’s as healthy for people as it is for the planet.
Today, Cafresco Organics harvests over 25 varieties of field-grown, certified organic vegetables. Their produce can be found locally and interstate, available through direct wholesale customers and other distribution channels.
Proudly Family-Owned
Maurie and Maria, along with their dedicated team, continue to lead Cafresco Organics with the same values their family started with; hard work, respect for the earth, and a passion for growing food you can trust.
