Maple, Poached Pear & Ginger Porridge

Autumn is all about those crisp mornings, so we thought we'd share the ultimate heartwarming recipe – our Maple, Poached Pear & Ginger Porridge. There's nothing better than curling up with a good book on the couch with a steaming bowl of porridge topped with seasonal, organic produce. This bowl is nothing but wholesome goodness to start your day.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

2 ripe Williams pears, sliced (skin on for extra fibre!)
1 ½ cups water
1/4 cup pure maple syrup 
1 cup oats (or Bask & Co's gluten-free porridge)
2 cups milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
½ tsp cinnamon (optional, but highly recommended!)

Toppings (choose your faves!):


🥜 Crunchy or smooth peanut butter (for extra protein)
🍌 Caramelised banana slices (fried in coconut oil)
🌰 Chopped dates, nuts & seeds

Method


1. Poach the pears – In a small saucepan, add sliced pears, water, and maple syrup and bring to boil. Cover and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until soft and infused with that maple goodness.

2. Make the porridge – In another saucepan, combine oats, milk, and grated ginger. Stir over medium heat for about 5 minutes until thick and creamy. Add cinnamon for extra warmth!

3. Assemble – Spoon the porridge into bowls, top with those luscious maple-poached pears, and drizzle over the remaining poaching liquid. Add a little more maple if needing extra sweetness.

4. Go wild with toppings – Add peanut butter, caramelised banana, nuts, or whatever your heart desires.

5. Find a cosy spot, grab your spoon, and savour every warming bite.
