Farmacy Weekly Report Week #47 2021

Organic-food-delivery-brisbane

Week #47 - deliveries from 2-4 December 2021 (order by midnight Tuesday)

Hi Foodies!

Week 47?!! How did the year go so fast? While I know it's a busy time of year for most of us, the end of another year is always a good time to take a moment to pause and reflect. Have you achieved some of your goals this year? And more importantly, have you taken the time to ENJOY your life? Have you had enough fun, pleasure, time with the people you love? Have you nourished your body with good food?

This time of year is traditionally one of indulgence but indulgence doesn't have to be bad for you. Instead try indulging in the best quality organic food our farmers and food makers have to offer you - there's no need to feel guilty about any of that!

🍎 PRODUCE UPDATE

While we all love rain, too much of it is a problem and our some of our farmers are having a really hard time this week. Our Apple and stone fruit Farmer Denis from Stanthorpe is finding that his stone fruit is splitting on the trees and unfortunately there's nothing he can do about it. It's not looking promising at this stage and is all the more devastating for him as last year he lost his whole stonefruit crop due to a black frost. We are sending him lots of love and hoping that some of the fruit survives.

Our blueberry farmers at Hampton Blue in Toowoomba are also worried about their berries. Too much rain means too much water in the fruit and causes it to split.

Lots of rain effects baby spinach and rocket too, as it doesn't work well if you package it while wet. So none of that is available this week.

On the positive side, we do have more Mangoes for you this week. It's not a huge crop this year though so I suggest buying a tray and freezing some for later. There's a great thread happening in our Farmacy Family Facebook group at the moment with loads of suggestions on what to do when you have loads of Mangoes.

📰 OTHER NEWS

It's been a really busy time for us recently with lots of staff changes. Sadly our Driver Genai has left the team and our Warehouse Packer Sarah has left for a full-time role at Gutsy. We're excited to welcome 2 new ladies to the team: Rachael Roberts and Tess Haining.

Rachael runs a coffee van at the West End Markets so some of you may have met her. She's passionate about building healthy food systems for the benefit of all. Rachael will be helping Cherry pack your boxes.

Tess is super passionate about permaculture and farming and is moving to Upper Brookfield to start her own small farm. Tess will be our new Delivery Driver.

They're both a perfect fit for our team.

Have a wonderful week everyone!
