It's officially winter and it's this time of year when I appreciate living in Queensland more than ever. Yes it's cold but the winter sun is just glorious!
Winter is also Root Vegetable Season and we have plenty of Parsnips, Swedes, Turnips and 6 varieties of Potatoes to chose from. Most of these are on special this week as they become more abundantly available: greater supply = lower prices.
Isn't nature clever, the way she makes root vegetables plentiful in winter and fruits like mangoes plentiful in summer? If you truly eat according to the seasons, you'll notice a very wise plan in action. What do you need to warm you in winter? Vegetable soup!

PRODUCE UPDATE
New this week we have Turnips, Black Globe Eggplant, Galangal and Fennel.
Seems like people are eating less Papaya at the moment (I guess because it's cold) so prices have come down from $9.50 to $7.50 each.
Lettuce is really hard to come by at the moment. I heard on the grapevine that some fast food chains are even supplementing lettuce with cabbage because they just can't get it! The wet weather had a huge impact on leafy greens everywhere.
If the weather holds out, we should have more Baby Cos in 2 weeks. Other Lettuce varieties may be 6 weeks away.
We do have 50 punnets of Baby Spinach (these will sell out really quickly) and plenty of Kale and Silverbeet.
No broccolini this week but we do have a limited amount of Certified Organic Broccoli from Victoria.
Shallots have gone up in price as they lost 3000 to mould on Kel's farm over the weekend and we're now having to source them from down south.
BAKERY RANGE EXPANSION
We've added 4 new bread varieties to our store for you this week from Sol Breads:

- Pumpkin & Pepita Organic Sourdough
- Super Seed Organic Sourdough
- Spelt & Caramelised Onion Organic Sourdough
