Does the thought of being in your kitchen make you want to hide under a pile of laundry? You might just need a better setup.
Just like fresh sheets on the bed, a tidy wardrobe, or finally tackling the chaos in that one “miscellaneous” drawer - we all have one - an organised kitchen can do wonders for your mindset. It clears the mental clutter and makes you actually want to be there.
Because we’re all about making your life a little easier, we’ve put together a list of five simple things you can do to set yourself up for a much more inspiring experience in the kitchen:
1. Stock Your Pantry Like a Pro 💪
If you ever get to the end of the day and stare into the empty abyss that is your kitchen, wondering what to cook, only to end up ordering takeaway (again), we’ve got you…
Having a few pantry staples on hand makes it so much easier to meal plan… just check you're all stocked up on these each week:
🫒 Olive/Coconut/Avocado Oil
🖤 Tamari/Soy Sauce
🍚 Rice & Rice Noodles
🌶️ Spices & Herbs: Paprika, Cumin, Italian Dried Herbs, Dried Oregano, etc.
🍏 Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
🍯 Honey & Maple Syrup
🌾 Favourite Flour: Almond/Coconut/Corn
🥜 Nut Butter
🧂 Salt & Pepper
🍲 Broth/Stock
Feel free to go through your own cupboard and add anything else you always seem to need on your pantry staples list.
A little bonus is, these staples are also extremely useful to have on hand for our Organic Meal Kits.
2. Give Your Fridge a Quick Refresh ✨
Before you get your next lot of groceries, take five to ten minutes to clear out last week’s mystery leftovers (this will become less the more organised you get) and make space for the fresh stuff. Wipe down shelves, check use-by dates, and consolidate - all containers on one shelf, fruit & veg on another.
💡 Top tip: Store leafy greens in a container lined with a paper towel to keep them fresher for longer. And mushrooms? Paper bags are your best friend.
3. Prep Once, Eat Twice (or Thrice)
If you’ve got half an hour on a Sunday (or whatever your version of “Sunday” is), do a little prep that will save you big time during the week.
🍚 Cook a batch of rice or quinoa
🥕 Chop your carrots and store in water in the fridge
🥔 Roast a tray of root veg
🧅 Slice onions or prep aromatics and store in jars
Do this and Future You will be very thankful.
4. Make Your Kitchen Feel Inviting
Cooking is so much more enjoyable when your space feels nice to be in. It doesn’t have to look like a magazine - just a few tweaks can change the vibe.
🕯️ Light a candle
🎶 Put on a good playlist or podcast
🧺 Clear a bit of bench space - less is more
🫙 Reorganise your jars and containers - you’ll use it if you can see it
🪴 Maybe add a herb plant or two?
You're more likely to cook at home if your kitchen feels like a space you want to be in.
