Where these eggs come from

These eggs come from Belvedere Farm, a pasture based regenerative farm that challenges everything the industrial food system tells us about eggs.

There is no bigger problem in the food system than misleading egg labelling, and many eaters now know this. Cartons labelled free range often show birds in green fields, yet in reality hens are typically crammed into sheds with access to a small dirt yard stocked at up to 10,000 birds per hectare.

When you picture what free range should really look like, you are picturing Belvedere’s pasture raised hens. These birds live outdoors on living pastures 24/7, sleeping and laying in mobile sheds that are moved every single week to fresh ground.

True pasture raised hens

Belvedere’s hens roam the pastures at extremely low density, at less than one tenth of the stocking rate allowed under standard free range rules. This means plenty of space to dust bathe, chase insects, scratch through the soil and behave like real chooks.

Their natural foraging and manure add fertility back into the land, helping Belvedere grow rich forage for the rest of their animals. This is farming as part of an ecosystem, not apart from it.

Food grown in an ecosystem

Belvedere Farm is built around the belief that good food should be grown within thriving, interconnected ecosystems. They actively work to heal the disconnection between farming, nature and communities.

Rather than producing food in sheds or industrial systems, Belvedere farms alongside nature, where cattle, pigs, chickens, native birds, trees and wildlife can all coexist. Their vision is for a decentralised, farmer led food system where animals are treated with dignity, land is cared for, and rural communities can flourish.

Feed and nutrition

Alongside the insects and plants they forage from pasture, Belvedere supplements their hens with a balanced grain ration.

Grain ingredients: wheat, maize, sorghum, bran and pollard, protein meals, vegetable oil, limestone, sodium bicarbonate, salt, choline chloride, amino acids, Riverina vitamin and mineral premix.

The eggs themselves

The result is a delicious, firm, fresh egg with yolks that naturally vary in colour with the seasons. These are deeply flavourful eggs that many people describe as the best they have ever tasted.
