Djularoo Lamb comes from Dugald and Jen’s farm at Junabee, just 12 km east of Warwick. With backgrounds as agronomists and a shared love for growing things, they’ve turned their passion for the land into a thriving, sustainable sheep farm. Some of the paddocks they now use were rehabilitated by Jen’s parents, who carefully developed tree belts and improved soils and pastures. When the chance came to expand, Dugald and Jen jumped at it, and have been building the energy, diversity, and health of their land ever since.
From Sheep to Sustainable Lamb
They started with cattle, then five years ago added sheep to the mix. Today, 100 Dorper/Aussie White ewes graze on diverse pastures featuring Qld Bluegrass, Purple Pigeon, Bambatsi Panic, plantain, lucerne, vetch, chicory, and other small forbs. Two rams run continuously with the flock, which means lamb is available all year round. Paddocks are rotated to allow the land to recover, and mineral licks are offered so the sheep can snack as they please.
Safety and stress-free handling are a priority for these two - exclusion fencing keeps wild dogs at bay, and the sheep are treated with care and respect. Grass-fed and rotationally grazed, these lambs thrive on a variety of pastures, producing meat that’s as delicious as it is responsibly raised.
Why Dugald and Jen Do What They Do
For Dugald and Jen, farming is about more than producing great lamb, it’s about caring for the animals, the soil, and the land, while growing food that’s truly nutritious. Sustainability is at the heart of every decision, from paddock rotation to exploring innovative ways to improve production while minimising impact on the environment. They believe good food starts with healthy animals and healthy pastures, and that ethos shines through in every cut of Djularoo Lamb.
