Farmacy Weekly Report Week #10 2022

Hi Foodies

Wow what a week that was! We sent out 700 orders of fresh food and had 65 new customers! When supermarket shelves are bare it always leads to a surge in orders for us and we love that this highlights the resilience of small, local food systems as opposed to the duopoly. While many of our farmers were flood-affected and there were some items we couldn't get, we still had a huge range of fresh produce and groceries available and we managed to get it delivered to residents all across Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

I'm so proud of our team - we have the strongest, most capable staff who are all willing to jump in wherever they're needed. All our drivers said yes in a heartbeat to pushing delivery days back and working on Sunday as it allowed time for flood waters to recede.

We had a staff party last night to celebrate our amazing crew!

Hot tip: if you are having a party call Fiona from Waste Free Parties - we hired plates, cutlery and glasses for everyone for $48 and you can return them dirty! Saves so much washing up and avoids creating waste from disposables.

BACK TO NORMAL THIS WEEK

Everything is back to normal this week and we are not anticipating anymore crazy weather, floods, lockdowns... but really who knows what's coming?! Fuel prices are definitely going up and food prices are too. There'll also be shortages of some items, especially in 3-4 weeks time when the seedlings that were lost in the floods would have been ready for harvest.

Whatever comes, we're ready! Resilience is the name of the game these days. We're also committed to keeping our prices as low as possible for you but please be aware there are many factors outside our control that are currently pushing prices up.

Cabbage, Cauliflower and Celery prices have gone up significantly as they're really hard to come by. They are not technically in season in Queensland at the moment so we have to source the Cauli and Celery from Victoria for you. We do this because we know so many customers want them no matter what the price and we want you to have access to organic ones. If you don't want to pay more than $10 for these - wait till the cooler months when they're more readily available.

Remember to order by Midnight Tuesday for delivery Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

LOVE NOTES

We were blown away with the amount of love we received from customers last week. Our cups are full! Here's a few of the kind comments that came in:

"Thank you for my delivery. I can't wait to enjoy my fresh veg tonight they all look wonderful. Your delivery girl was nice and especially friendly." - Kathy, Pinjarra Hills

(Our driver Tess is an absolute legend!)

"I would like to congratulate you on your business. I love it! I've been in business 26 years and I love seeing other businesses giving such wonderful caring service as you are." - Donna, Tarragindi

"Apples were the best I've ever tasted" - Georgia, Dakabin

(That's because they're fresh off the trees at Stanthorpe! Best time of year to enjoy apples right now.)

🍎 PRODUCE UPDATE

Dragonfruit are back this week - fresh from Kel's farm near Woodford.

Lots of price increases this week due to the impact of the floods but thankfully many items remain the same and we even have some good specials (listed below).

Limited leafy greens are back this week - Baby Spinach, Lettuce, Fresh Herbs and Silverbeet.

No Grapes.

🛒 GROCERY UPDATE

After listening to The Brain Fog Fix on Audible recently, I've become really conscious of getting enough DHA and EPA for my brain. The best source of these minerals is said to be fish, which is why we recently added Good Fish to our store. If you want a plant-based source, Hemp is brilliant. So this week, we've added Hemp Seeds and Hemp Seed Oil to the store.

We've also added Cherry's favourite Natural Deodorant - Ethique roll on.

Buchi is now in cans instead of bottles and we've added their Ginger & Citrus Kefir for you to try.

💲 SPECIALS

  • Roma Tomatoes - $4/500g
  • Garlic - $5.50/100g
  • Turmeric Powder 300g - $23.95
