Happy Monday!
I hope your week is off to a glorious start. We have been busy collecting so many returned boxes and I'm off to collect even more today that have been kindly offered to us from another local business.
Styrofoam boxes are becoming increasingly difficult to get and more expensive than ever. We always try to buy recycled boxes and reuse them for as long as possible - but this relies on our customer's returning them! Please help us out by returning your boxes every week.
Thanks to everyone who made suggestions for alternative types of boxes, including insulated cardboard boxes, wool pack and more. We'll definitely be investigating these options as we continue to evolve and improve.
In other news, we are about to launch a Mother's Day Competition to win a month of free groceries! Keep an eye out for this next week.
We're also working on adding Office Fruit Boxes to our offering. We'll start delivering these to Inner Brisbane office on Mondays very soon. In addition to the freshest, seasonal fruit, we'll be offering organic milk, snacks and healthy drinks for the drink fridge. If you work in an office and would like to be one of the first to trial our new office boxes, please email us.
PRODUCE UPDATE 🍎
This week could well be called Potato Week as we have added a bunch of new potato varieties - all Certified Organic from Bio Farms lovely cool Tasmanian climate. In addition to the regular varieties we've got King Edward (great for roasting), Nicola (low GI, good for mash), Pontiac (roast with skin on) and Desiree Potatoes (for potato salad).
No Oranges this week sadly as our regular farmer Brian from Gayndah has sold his farm and is retiring. Did you know the average age of farmers is around 60? We need more young farmers to fill their shoes!
Good news is we are welcoming a new citrus fruit farmer from the same region very soon. Neil Richards from Gayndah's Big Orange previously supplied to Food Connect and now they have closed he's excited to be able to send his spray-free produce to us.
This week is likely to be the last week for Dragonfruit so if you love this exotic fruit as much as I do you might want to grab a few!
GROCERY UPDATE 🛒
The demand for Organic Sourdough Crumpets has been huge lately so we decided to increase the frequency of Crumpet Week - we'll now be offering fresh crumpets every fortnight starting this week. Order yours before they sell out!
To commemorate Anzac Day, we have Britts Organic GF Anzac Cookies and Nanita will be sharing a recipe for a Grain Free slice you might like to bake for Anzac Day.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget 💗"
Infinite love & gratitude,
Kristen & Trevor and all the team at the Spray-Free Farmacy
