It's Siobhan here today - Kristen is off adventuring with her family, but more on that later!
How's the weather? Outside it's looking a bit more dreary than I'd like - you'd be forgiven for forgetting we live in Queensland. As the mercury drops and the heavens open, it means it's time to crack out the slow cookers and stock pots, woollies and wellies.
It feels a bit earlier than normal and Winter doesn't officially begin until June 1, but colder days herald snuggle season and a whole range of Winter veg that can only survive our harsh QLD weather when the temps drop and the sun backs off a bit. Broccoli and cauliflower traditionally don't like to sunbake, so we source these winter natives from colder climates during our warmer months.
This week we've got sebago potato and shallots on special - perfect for making traditional Irish champ, or add some cabbage to make colcannon. If you'd prefer to dream of warmer days and sunnier locales, why not crack out some guacamole with the wonderful new season avocados that are also on sale.
Our fearless leader is off deck for the next little while! The Ottaways are on a sourcing mission for delicious and exciting goodies from far afield to add to our Spray-Free Farmacy. Keep an eye on our socials for some sneak peeks at their adventures 'down south' - I wonder if anyone can guess where they've gone? Here's a hint - it's MUCH colder where they've gone, perfect GRAPE GROWING weather ...
PRODUCE & GROCERY UPDATE 🍎
Thanks to the cooler weather this week we have welcomed back custard apples! We've also added black beans and tinned tomatoes for you. We've got great savings on Barbell Biltong and have more Loco Love chocolates in stock after everyone went crazy for them last week. To the Mums out there - if you didn't get some for Mother's Day, maybe you should add some to your order as a belated gift to yourself?
To make room for more grocery items we're reducing the amount of frozen goodies that we stock - get in quick to snap up the remaining dumplings and CoYo ice-cream before they're gone for good!
